Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy on Wednesday directed the officials to ensure the availability of adequate stock of fertilisers for farmers during the ensuing Vaanakalam (Kharif season). The officials informed the Minister that about 4 lakh tonnes of buffer stock was available with the Telangana State Cooperative Marketing Federation Limited (TS Markfed) at present.

In a preparatory meeting for the Vaanakalam season at HACA Bhavan here, Niranjan Reddy instructed the officials to ensure that the fertilisers allocated to the State are drawn every month as per the fixed schedule and supply them to the farmers. He also instructed the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) to utilise all the available godowns to stock the fertilisers and distribute them promptly. However, he suggested that the officials create awareness among farmers against excess usage of fertilisers for their crops.

The Minister wanted the officials to supply fertilisers from the rake points to the districts before the commencement of rains. He asked the officials and the fertiliser companies to coordinate with each other to ensure that there are no loading and unloading problems due to the lockdown. He asserted that all the government rules should be strictly followed during the supply and distribution of fertilisers.

TS Markfed Managing Director Yadireddy, TS Agros Managing Director Ramulu and officials of various fertiliser companies attended the meeting.
