Telangana police urged to enhance security for Muharram
The 68 days of religious observance will witness key events including the massive religious procession (10th day of Muharram) on July 6.

Hyderabad: BJP’s former state spokesperson Mir Firasath Ali Baqri met with the Director General of Police Dr. Jitender on Friday, and submitted a formal representation requesting enhanced security arrangements for the upcoming holy month of Muharram.
During an interaction with the state police chief, Mir Firasath Ali Baqri and Syed Rehan Hyder sought comprehensive security arrangements for Ashoorkhanas across the state from June 27 to September 3, 2025.
The representation highlighted the need for deployment of specialized police forces such as the Task Force, Special Branch, Special Operation Team (SOT), and SHE Teams to ensure peace, safety, and smooth conduct of processions.
The 68 days of religious observance will witness key events including the massive religious procession (10th day of Muharram) on July 6, Arbaeen procession on August 15, Chup Taziya on September 2, and Eid-e-Zehra on September 3.
The BJP leader emphasized the historical and spiritual importance of these religious observances and urged the state police to make necessary arrangements before the commencement of the holy month.
He praised the DGP Dr. Jitender for patiently listening to their concerns and giving a prompt response, and his commitment to maintaining law and order during the significant religious events in the state.
“The DGP’s proactive support and open communication are truly inspiring and reassuring to the community,” Baqri said.
The representation is part of Mir Firasath Ali Baqri’s continued efforts to advocate for communal harmony and ensure religious events in Telangana are conducted in a peaceful and organised manner.
The DGP assured the delegation that all necessary security protocols would be reviewed and that the safety of citizens during Muharram will remain a top priority for the state police.
