Excelsior Model UN kicks off

Hyderabad: The 5th edition of Excelsior MUN 2020 was organised by Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology with three committees being simulated at the conference this year- United Nations General Assembly: Disarmament and International Security (UNGA:DISEC), United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), and the Lok Sabha.
The event began with an opening ceremony with a keynote address from a career diplomat, Adnan Altay Altınörs, Turkey Consul General in Hyderabad, who spoke to the participants about the importance of diplomacy and international peace, especially in these trying times, and motivating them to make the most of the conference.
The Organising Committee helped delegates find their respective committees on Zoom for an introductory session about each committee’s Rules of Procedure, which allowed the delegates to comfortably transition to conferences on a digital platform, a press release said.
