Expedite reservoir, canal works: Jagadish to officials
Speaking on the occasion, Jagdish Reddy said the State government had worked out a plan to speed up the works of Baswapur reservoir, which was taken up as a part of Kaleshwaram project
Nalgonda: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Wednesday instructed the officials to speed up the canal works of 14 and 15 packages of Kaleshwaram Project in Thurkapally mandal in Yadadri-Bhongir district.
The Minister, accompanied by Government Whip Gongidi Sunitha, District Collector Anitha Ramachandran and officials of irrigation department, inspected the works of the canal stretch covering 40 km in Thurkapally mandal in four hours. He also held review meeting with the official near the canal at Mallalapally in the mandal.
Speaking on the occasion, Jagadish Reddy said the State government had worked out a plan to speed up the works of Baswapur reservoir, which was taken up as a part of Kaleshwaram project. He said that Baswapuram and Gandamalla reservoirs would solve irrigation problem in Bhongir and Alair assembly constituencies. He was also inquired the officials about the status to 14 and 15 package works of kaleshwaram project. He reminded that 2,450 cusecs of water from Mallanagar reservoir would reach Gandamalla reservoir through canal of 15th and 16th package. The package was designed like irrigation facility would be provided to 6,467 acres through Distributory canals at jagdevpur while 37,814 acres through Left Main Canal ( LMC) and 19,901 acres through Right Main canal (RMC).
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had made it clear at a review meeting with officials held Tuesday that works of irrigation projects should not be kept pending, the Minister pointed out.
