Khammam: Kothagudem MLA, CPI State secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao stated that those who exploit natural resources and the public were posing as patriots while those who fight for their rights are portrayed as traitors.
He expressed anguish at the authoritarians finding a place in the legislatures while criminals, exploiters, and those who amass wealth by illegal means gain recognition in society as patriots.
He interacted with the media at Khammam Press Club on Saturday during ‘Meet the Press’ organised by Telangana Working Journalists Federation (TWJF) district committee in view of the CPI centenary celebrations. Holding the centenary celebrations in Khammam was a historic event, he noted.
Sambasiva Rao while stressing on the need for unity of communists stated that communism was immortal. In many countries, communist parties have united and seized political power. People were wishing for the unity of communists and it was necessary for the country and society.
Promising to resolve the issue of house plots for journalists, the CPI leader stated that he would take the matter of house plots for Khammam journalists to the attention of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy as well to raise the matter in the Legislative Assembly.
Only communists fight for public issues; many of the benefits currently enjoyed by workers and farmers were the result of the communists’ struggles. Even if the communists have to befriend bourgeois parties, it would only be until the elections. It was unavoidable to collaborate with bourgeois parties when the situation demanded it, Sambasiva Rao averred.
Even after forming alliances, the communist were left disappointed when they did not get the expected seats. Even though the CPI was an ally of the government, they have consistently pointed out undemocratic tendencies, he maintained.
TWJF district president and secretary Syed Khadeer and Kothapalli Srinivas Reddy, vice president Duvva Sagar, TBJA district president and secretary Avula Srinivas and Manukonda Ravikiran, Press Club president and secretary Madhav and Nukala Ramachandramurthy were present.
