Farmer ends life over mounting debts in Karimnagar
A 49-year-old farmer from Kondapalkala in Manakondur mandal allegedly died by suicide, unable to repay debts taken for his daughter’s marriage. Police said he owned 2.5 acres and leased additional land. A case has been registered following a complaint by his son.
Karimnagar: A farmer, Kariveda Sampath Reddy (49), died by suicide at Kondapalkala village in Manakondur mandal, reportedly unable to repay debts incurred after his daughter’s marriage.
Sampath Reddy ended his life by hanging himself at his residence on Saturday evening.
According to police, he owned two and a half acres of land and was cultivating additional land on lease. He had borrowed heavily to meet the expenses of his daughter’s wedding held four months ago.
Unable to repay the mounting debts, he is believed to have taken the extreme step. Based on a complaint filed by his son Ramana Reddy, police registered a case and began an investigation.
