Hyderabad: Protests erupted across the State with farmers and BRS cadre hitting the roads and burning effigies of the State government as well as Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, demanding payment of Rythu Bharosa investment support for the Vanakalam (Kharif) season. They strongly condemned the State government’s decision, stating that the Congress government deceived them by denying the investment support.

Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao had announced on Saturday that the State government would not be able to disburse the Rythu Bharosa funds as the Cabinet sub-committee was yet to submit its guidelines.

Farmers along with the BRS cadre staged protests in headquarters of all Assembly constituencies, mandals and districts across erstwhile districts of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy and other parts of the State.

Mild tension prevailed in Gajwel, Siddipet, and a few other places after the police attempted to stop the agitators from burning the effigies of the State government. However, the protestors managed to evade the police and burn the effigies.

The farmers and BRS cadre raised slogans against the State government, Congress party, Revanth Reddy and the Agriculture Minister, for failing to deliver the electoral promise to provide investment support of Rs 15,000 per acre per annum. They reminded that the Congress had promised to increase Rythu Bharosa amount from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 per acre. They warned to intensify the protests.
