Farmers from Telangana’s Suryapet gear up to set out for BRS silver jubilee rally in bullock carts

Suryapet: In a show of solidarity, farmers from Suryapet district are gearing up to set out to Warangal for the BRS Silver Jubilee meeting adopting their traditional mode. Large fleets of bullock carts, painted in vibrant pink, are getting ready for the occasion.

Farmers from across the district, who were overwhelmed by the feeling of being let down by the Congress government, are joining the bullock cart rally in large numbers, symbolising their unwavering support for BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and his leadership.

Farmers, who had lost crops extensively due to the scarcity conditions, are voluntarily organising the rally. They have sought a separate meeting with Chandrashekhar Rao to pour out their woes that owed to the Congress government failures and express their gratitude for the decade long efforts made by him for reviving the dwindled fortunes of the peasant community.

Suryapet MLA, G Jagadish Reddy, who will be leading the bullock cart rally, has been meeting the farmers reaching out to them in their villages and harvest centres.

Over the past decade, the BRS administration had made considerable effort to address the water problem in the region. Water supplies extended from projects like Kaleshwaram and SRSP phase II had changed the agrarian profile of districts such as Nalgonda and Suryapet making them leading paddy producers.

The transformation led to bumper harvests and debt repayment bringing financial stability for many farmers. However, over the last one and a half years, scarcity conditions being faced by them have cast a shadow on their progress during the Congress rule.
