KCR, KTR pay tributes to Dasarathi Krishnamacharya on his centenary

Hyderabad: BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao paid homage to revolutionary poet Dasarathi Krishnamacharya on his birth centenary on Tuesday. He hailed the poet as a proud son of Telangana who immortalised the region’s struggles through his words.
Remembering the iconic line “Naa Telangana…. Koti Ratnala Veena” by the poet and writer, Chandrashekhar Rao said, Dasarathi gave voice to the pain of the oppressed and also showcased Telangana’s cultural identity worldwide. He recalled that the previous BRS government had instituted the Dasarathi Krishnamacharya Literary Award and officially celebrated his birth anniversary to ensure that future generations remember his legacy.
Party working president KT Rama Rao paid tributes to Dasarathi, who ignited the fighting spirit and inspired the Telangana movement through his literary works like Rudraveena, Agnidhara, Kavithapushyakam and Timiramlo Samaram. “It is our duty to present his writings and his fighting spirit to future generations,” he said.
Former Minister T Harish Rao termed Dasarathi as a warrior poet whose verses ignited the Telangana movement. He stated that through his writings, Dasarathi had showcased Telangana’s self-respect and fighting spirit, and continues to inspire generations.
MLC K Kavitha said Dasarathi fought Nizam’s oppression with his fiery literary works, inspiring pride and resistance that remain alive even today.
