Farmers protest in Pulkal after fertiliser shop charges more than MRP for urea
Farmers in Pulkal mandal protested against a fertiliser shop for charging above MSP on urea, disrupting traffic. Former MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran blamed the Congress government for failing to ensure supply.
Sangareddy: Farmers staged a protest at Sairam Fertilisers in Pulkal mandal headquarters on Tuesday, accusing the shop of charging Rs.30 to Rs.40 above the MSP for a bag of urea.
The farmers confronted the shop owner after being asked to pay more, which led to an argument. With no satisfactory response, they squatted on the road and raised slogans against the Congress government. Traffic was disrupted until police arrived and persuaded the protesters to clear the road. The farmers demanded strict action against the shop owner for overcharging.
Reacting to the incident, former Andole MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran said the State government had completely failed to ensure urea supply to farmers.
He accused Health Minister and local MLA Damodara Rajanarsimha of ignoring public issues and claimed the minister was only busy inaugurating projects initiated by the BRS government. He demanded stern action against the fertiliser shop owner and adequate urea stocks in the constituency.
