Karimnagar: Tension prevailed at a Gromor fertiliser shop in Ganneruvaram mandal on Saturday as farmers staged a protest, alleging that urea was being withheld despite sufficient stock being available.
The farmers claimed that 650 bags of urea had been delivered to the shop a week ago, yet not a single bag had been distributed. They accused officials of imposing unfair conditions — including mandatory purchase of liquid fertilisers — to access urea.
Despite repeated visits, farmers said they were unable to secure fertiliser, alleging that the urea was being diverted to the black market instead of being distributed through official channels.
The protest turned heated when farmers argued with Agriculture Officer Kiranmai, demanding immediate and fair distribution of the fertiliser stock.
