Sangareddy: Farmers staged a protest at Anna Sagar sub-station on the outskirts of Jogipet town, highlighting the government’s failure to provide 24-hour power supply to the farming sector. Traffic came to a standstill on the busy Jogipet-Sangareddy road.
Farmers from Jogipet, Masanpally and other neighbouring villages gathered at the 11-kV sub-station as there were frequent disruptions in power supply to agricultural connections in these villages. As the Transco officials failed to respond even after the farmers raised the issue multiple times, the farmers took to the streets.
They arrived at the sub-station carrying placards. As traffic went haywire on the busy road, the police intervened and convinced the farmers to withdraw the protest. The police also called the Transco officials and requested them to resolve the issue.
