Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Over 300 farmers and residents from Buradaguda, CR Nagar, Ankushapur, Narlapur, Mahajan Guda, and surrounding villages staged a sit-in protest in front of the Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (NPDCL) divisional engineer’s office in Kagaznagar on Monday, demanding action against erratic and undeclared power outages.

The protesters expressed concern over the increasing power disruptions, saying the outages were severely affecting their daily lives and agricultural activities. They said the frequent night-time power cuts had created fears of snake bites and mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria and dengue.

Demanding the suspension of the NPDCL assistant engineer for alleged negligence, they claimed the official had failed to address the ongoing issues despite repeated complaints. The villagers recalled that such problems were not prevalent during the previous BRS government.

The protest was called off only after senior officials from the power utility assured the demonstrators that the assistant engineer would be transferred following an inquiry into the complaints.

The farmers and residents, however, warned that they would resume the agitation if their grievances were not addressed at the earliest.
