Farming couple struck dead by lightning in Asifabad

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: In a tragic incident, a farmer and his wife were killed in a lightning strike, while another person sustained injuries when they were standing under a tree at Kairiguda village in Rebbena mandal on Sunday.
Locals and family members said that Tekam Bheemu (50) and his wife Raju Bai (45) of the village died on the spot when lightning struck them. Athram Gangu, another farmer, sustained minor injuries. He was shifted to a hospital in Asifabad. His condition is stated to be stable.
Several parts of the district witnessed brief spells of rain coupled with strong winds, soaking paddy and maize that had been shifted to agriculture market yards for procurement. However, the showers brought down the unrelenting heatwave conditions, offering respite to the public.
