Hyderabad: Federal Express Corporation (“FedEx”), the world’s largest express transportation company, has called upon the public to stay vigilant against fraudulent activities involving impersonation of FedEx employees in India. These scams often leave victims facing financial loss and emotional distress.

In a press release issued here, the FedEx urged the people to understand the scam in which the scammers impersonate courier representatives, including FedEx, falsely claiming that your parcel contains illegal items.

The victims are connected to fake law enforcement officials who threaten legal action or digital arrest, demanding immediate payments to avoid trouble and once money is transferred, the scammers vanish, leaving victims at a loss.

FedEx said it does not request, via unsolicited mail, email, or text, any personal information pertaining to your account credentials or identity. “FedEx is not affiliated with law enforcement authorities and does not act on their behalf,” it said while asking people to be cautious of calls claiming to represent courier services or threats involving fake law enforcement officials.

“Do not transfer money in response to threats or suspicious requests,” the statement said while asking the victims of such a scam to report it immediately by calling 1930 or visiting cybercrime.gov.in.

Safety Tips to protect yourself:

● Stay Alert: Always be cautious of unsolicited communications claiming to represent FedEx or other courier platforms.
● Verify Before You Act: Cross-check suspicious messages or calls with official customer service channels.
● Avoid Hasty Payments: Never transfer money or share personal information without verifying the source.
● Report Incidents: Contact local law enforcement or report scams through the Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in.
