Female farm labourer dies, 12 hurt in road accident in Khammam
A 55-year-old female agricultural labourer was killed and 12 others were injured when a speeding lorry hit an autorickshaw near Raghunadhapalem in Khammam district on Friday. The labourers were returning home after cotton-picking work.

Khammam: One female agricultural labourer died while 12 others were injured in a road accident at Pangidi of Raghunadhapalem mandal in the district on Friday.
According to police, the incident occurred when the labourers from Kamanchikal village of Khammam Rural mandal were returning home in the evening hours after picking cotton in a field at Pangidi.
A speeding lorry hit an auto rickshaw carrying the labourers near Raghunadhapalem police station. A woman, Donthusarupu Bharatamma (55) died on the spot. The injured were shifted to Government General Hospital, Khammam.
The condition of two women was said to be critical. Upon learning of the matter, Khammam MP Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy expressed grief over it, spoke to medical officials over the phone and directed them to provide better treatment to the injured.
Khammam Town ACP SV Ramana Murthy, Traffic Inspector Siva Prasad and R&B officials inspected the accident site. They examined factors leading to the accident and instructed the concerned officials to implement necessary road safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
