Final rites of Sepoy Anil Kumar held with full military honours in Khammam
Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar of the 23rd Maratha Light Infantry was laid to rest with full military honours in Surya Thanda, Khammam district, after being martyred along the Line of Control in Kashmir's Baramulla district.

Khammam: The final rites of Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar of Indian Army’s 23rd Maratha Light Infantry were performed with military honours at his native place Surya thanda of Perupalli gram panchayat, Singareni mandal in Khammam district on Wednesday.
The jawan who was part of Chinar Corps, a Corps-level formation responsible for military operations in the Kashmir Valley, was martyred while performing operational duty along the Line of Control in Baramulla district on August 11, Army officials said.
The mortal remains of the jawan were brought to Surya thanda by the Army officials. The officials presented the jawan’s uniform, medals and other belongings along with the national flag to the jawan’s wife Renuka.
After a brief halt at the jawan’s residence, a funeral procession was taken out as hundreds of villagers and family members joined the procession. Wyra MLA Ramdas Naik, former MLA Ramulu Naik and others paid homage to the deceased jawan.
In a post on X, Chinar Corps hailed Anil Kumar’s valour and sacrifice and expressed deepest condolences saying that they would stand in solidarity with the bereaved family. The jawan had visited his native place in the second week of July and spoke to his family members on August 11, when he celebrated his birthday.
