Financial stress over daughter’s marriage drives Special Branch SI to suicide in Warangal
Mohammed Asif, a Sub-Inspector attached to the Special Branch in Chennaraopet, Warangal, died by suicide after reportedly struggling to arrange funds for his daughter’s wedding.

Warangal: A Sub-Inspector of Police, who was reportedly under severe financial stress while trying to arrange money for his daughter’s marriage, died by suicide in Chennaraopet mandal on Saturday.
The officer, identified as Mohammed Asif (50), was attached to the Special Branch at Chennaraopet police station. He is said to have consumed pesticide on Friday and died while undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital in Warangal.
Speaking to the media, Asif’s brother-in-law Akram said the officer had been facing financial difficulties and was deeply worried about expenses for his third daughter’s wedding. He urged higher authorities to extend support to the bereaved family.
Asif, a long-serving and dedicated officer, had received a certificate of appreciation for his services from the then Warangal District Collector Vakati Karuna on Republic Day of 2017.
