Minor boy held for duping men with fake female voice and live-in promises in Suryapet
A minor boy from Suryapet district was arrested for impersonating women and defrauding men with false promises of live-in relationships. He was part of a four-member gang that operated across Telangana and Bengaluru, using fake identities and voice mimicry to extract money.
Adilabad: In a bizarre case of deception, a minor boy from Suryapet district was arrested for allegedly duping men by mimicking female voices and promising live-in relationships. The youngster was part of a four-member gang that had been preying on unsuspecting victims across Telangana and even in Bengaluru.
According to Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy, the arrest followed the recent detention of three of his accomplices, Maloji Manji alias Krishnaveni, Bukya Ganesh and Rupavath Shravan Kumar from Ramachandrapuram in Suryapet, on October 27. The minor had managed to evade the police till now.
The gang’s method was simple but effective. Using fake female identities and mimicking female voices, they called men, spoke convincingly and lured them with the promise of live-in relationships. Once they gained trust, they extracted money using different pretexts and false claims. The cash was then used to buy premium mobile phones and two-wheelers.
Police said the group also cheated people under the pretext of performing sorcery and running a fake marriage bureau. Victims were identified from several districts including Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Adilabad and Bengaluru.
