Hyderabad: A fire broke out at Aditya Enclave building near Maitrivanam junction in Ameerpet on Friday afternoon, triggering panic among students attending classes in the commercial complex.
As per information available, the blaze started from a suspected short circuit in the main electrical panel board inside a coaching centre in the building. Thick smoke quickly spread to the upper floors, leaving several students trapped in the building.
On receiving information, the fire department staff and police personnel rushed to the spot and took up rescue operations. Using ladders, firefighters evacuated nearly 60 students safely from the building. As a precautionary measure, shops in the Nilgiri Block of the complex were temporarily shut down.
Students attending classes in coaching institutes and IT training centres on the upper floors managed to escape through the staircases, while some were brought down safely through balconies with the assistance of fire personnel.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the fire may have been triggered by a short circuit in an electrical panel board located on the ground floor. Police said the flames had spread up to the third floor before being brought under control.
No injuries were reported in the incident. Officials have started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
