Hyderabad: A fire broke out in a mattress-making unit at Dommara Pochampally in Dundigal on the city outskirts on Wednesday morning. No casualties were reported, police said.
Officials suspect a short circuit could have led to the fire. The local residents noticed the fire and thick smoke emerging from the unit which is surrounded by residential colonies and alerted the fire department and police.
A fire engine was rushed to the spot and it took over two hours to douse the fire. The unit was full of cotton, fiber and cloth material, due to which thick smoke engulfed the surrounding areas, triggering panic among the residents.
Officials said the cost of the property damage was yet to be estimated. The Dundigal police are investigating.
