Transportation of LMO in the cryogenic tankers helps in fast transportation, compared to the regular RO-RO (Roll Off Roll On) service. The height restrictions which are applicable in the regular RO-RO service can be overcome as there will be comparatively better height clearance for the container traffic.
Indian Railways have been continuously operating Oxygen Express trains to meet the request of the States’ need for LMO. These trains are operated at the request of the State governments and are given prime importance with their movement done along the Green Corridor, to ensure fast transportation.
Another Oxygen Express with four empty tankers started from Sanath Nagar today.
Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR said that operation of the Oxygen Express trains would be given the highest priority and advised all the divisions to continue with strict monitoring of these trains so that they reach their destinations at the fastest possible time.
