DSP Ramanujam briefs details of seizure of liquor to press men in Chintalamanepalli mandal centre on Wednesday.
Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Five persons were booked for storing large quantities of liquor in bordering Gudem village of Chintalamanepalli mandal violating model code of conduct (MCC) on Tuesday. The value of the liquor was assessed to be Rs 21.50 lakh.
Briefing details of the seizure to the media persons in Chintalamanepalli mandal centre, Kagaznagar DSP Ramanujam said that a case was registered against Kodipaka Satyanarayana, an owner of local wine shop, Kompari Anjanna, Ramagiri Shankar, Kushatarivari Akash and Santosh Jaiswal, all from Gudem for storing the alcohol for violating the MCC came into force in view of MLC elections.
Police said that Satyanarayana was found to be storing liquor worth Rs 20.24 lakh at the house of his employee Anjanna when police raided his home, following a tip-off. Alcohol worth Rs 98,400 was seized from Ramagiri Shankar’s house. Akash and Santosh were found to be hiding alcohol valued Rs 19,200 and Rs 9,130, each.
Anjanna, Shankar, Akash and Santosh operate belt-shops or unauthorized outlets of liquor in the village.
Koutala Inspector Mutyam Ramesh, Sub-Inspectors N Madhukar, Naresh and Praveen, head constables Dinakar, Mahesh, Anand, constables Vijay and Tirupati took part in the raids.
SP DV Srinivasa Rao commended the Inspector, Sub-Inspectors and their staffers for seizing the liquor.
