Hanamkonda: Former Deputy Chief Minister and Station Ghanpur former MLA T Rajaiah was placed under house arrest by the Subedari police on Monday morning at his residence near the Circuit Guest House in Hanamkonda. The move came hours before Rajaiah was set to launch the third phase of his padayatra from Kurchapalle in Raghunathapalle mandal, Jangaon district.
The padayatra, which was aimed at highlighting farmers’ demand for irrigation water, was expected to be joined by Jangaon MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy. Heavy police forces were also deployed at Raghavpur in Station Ghanpur mandal to prevent gatherings.
Rajaiah condemned the police action, calling it an attempt to stifle democratic protest. “No matter what obstacles come my way, I will continue my struggle for farmers,” he asserted.
The BRS cadre slammed the Congress government and MLA Kadiyam Srihari, calling the house arrest a sign of dictatorial governance.
