Sangareddy: Former Andole MLA Chanti Kranthi accused the Congress government of showing discrimination against farmers of the Andole Assembly constituency in the release of irrigation water from the Singur project. As officials released water to the Ghanpur ayacut from the Singur project a couple of days ago following the demand of farmers, Kranthi Kiran exposed the alleged ignorance of the Congress government in releasing the same water to the Singur ayacut.
Kranthi Kiran visited paddy fields in Mudi Manikyam village in Pulkal mandal on Monday, where a farmer was seen irrigating his field by purchasing water in tanks. The distressed farmer, Krishna, set a portion of his paddy field on fire, unable to provide water. Despite repeated appeals from the farmers, Kranthi Kiran said that Health Minister and local MLA Damodara Rajanarasimha failed to act on the requests of farmers.
He said Damodara Rajanarasimha had even failed to visit the villages to understand the struggles of farmers in his constituency. Adding to the difficulties of farmers, Kranthi Kiran said that the Congress government denied Rythu Bharosa, loan waiver and many other benefits to the farming community after coming to power two and a half years ago. It is not just one farmer’s struggle in Mudi Manikyam village, as the paddy fields of many farmers have dried up across the constituency due to lack of irrigation water. The farmers have incurred huge losses during the Yasangi season. Kranthi Kiran demanded that the government declare compensation for farmers for their inability to provide irrigation water.
