Warangal Urban: Former Vice-Chancellor of Telangana University (TU), Nizamabad, Prof Pasula Sambaiah (66) died of cardiac arrest at a private the hospital here on Wednesday. He is survived by wife, daughter and son.

According to relatives, Sambaiah, who was residing near Telangana chowrasta in Hanamkonda, was admitted to the hospital due to multiple health issues about a week ago. Though sources said he was also infected by Covid-19, it was not confirmed.


Hailing from Nagaram village of Parkal mandal in the erstwhile Warangal district, Sambaiah completed his schooling at his native village and pursued his Intermediate at Parkal town, graduation at the University Arts and Science College, Subedari, Hanamkonda and post-graduation (PG) and PhD from Kakatiya University campus.

He worked as a professor in the Department of Public Administration and HRM at the Kakatiya University (KU), Warangal, from 1992 to 2015 (till his retirement). He also held the position of director admissions, director SC, ST cell; director hostels, NSS coordinator, head of the department of public administration, and Board of Studies (BoS) chairman in KU.

He worked as the VC of TU from July 25, 2016, to July 24, 2019. He enjoyed the support of Dalit teachers, scholars and intellectuals. Sources said that he had good command over Telangana dialect, and even impressed Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao during the Statehood movement.
