Forum for a Better Hyderabad commemorates World Rivers Day with Shamirpet Lake walk
Presiding over the programme, FBH chairman and INTACH National Governing Council member, Prof. Veda Kumar Manikonda emphasized that its people's responsibility to keep the rivers clean.

Hyderabad: Forum for a Better Hyderabad (FBH), in collaboration with World Rivers Day, Canada, Civil Society Groups, Government City College, and Deccan Heritage Academy among other educational institutions, organised a walk along the banks of Shamirpet Lake here on Sunday commemorating the ‘World Rivers Day’.
Presiding over the programme, FBH chairman and INTACH National Governing Council member, Prof. Veda Kumar Manikonda emphasized that its people’s responsibility to keep the rivers clean.
He also emphasised that it does not just rest on the government alone but the civil society, organisations and youth to take responsibility to protect rivers and water bodies against pollution.
Explaining about the significance of Shamirpet Lake, Prof. Veda Kumar said the lake as the best sunset point that 6th Nizam Mehboob Ali Pasha selected as the best point around Hyderabad and made it popular among his guests from all over the world during their visit to Hyderabad.
Telangana Tribal Museum director and historian Dr. Dyawanavally Satyanarayana, Shameerpet Samrakshana Committee convenor Ravindra Reddy, Water harvesting expert Subhash Reddy, FBH member Narahari, environmentalists, students, teachers and school management representatives also participated in the walk.
