Adilabad: Adilabad Zilla Parishad Chairperson Rathod Janardhan said that everyone must strive hard for realising the dreams of Dr BR Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. He was chief guest of a programme held to mark 130th birth anniversary of Ambedkar here on Wednesday.
Janardhan said that Ambedkar provided reservations to weaker sections of the society in education, jobs and constitutional positions. He opined that there was a need to carry forward his ideals and to fulfil his dreams. He recalled that the constitution had eradicated inequalities of society and helped socially disadvantaged communities to live with pride.
Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna, who was present in the event, said that Ambedkar had authored the constitution by studying constitutions of 60 countries and underlined the need to provide education to weaker sections for abolishing the caste system. He said that the government was implementing a slew of schemes for realising the dreams of Ambedkar.
Earlier, the legislator laid the foundation stone to Ambedkar Bhavan in Adilabad. The estimated cost of the building is Rs 2 cr. Ramanna, Janardhana and many other officials paid tributes to Ambedkar by garlanding his statue on the premises of SP’s office. They inaugurated a statue of Ambedkar in front of TSRTC bus stand of the town.
Additional Collector M David, Additional SP Srinivas Rao, DCCB chairman Namdev, Agriculture market committee chairman M Prahlad, Farmer Coordination Committee chairman A Bhoja Reddy and leaders of Dalit organisations were present.
