Sangareddy: Six children sustained injuries when the ceiling of an anganwadi building collapsed at Venkatapur village in Narayankhed mandal on Friday. The incident occurred an hour after the school was opened.
The injured children were rushed to government hospital in Narayankhed in 108 ambulance. They were Harika, Mounika, Ankitha, Pranay, Avinash and Riyanika. Collector Valluru Kranthi and Narayankhed MLA Patlolla Sanjeeva Reddy visited the hospital and interacted with parents, children, and enquired with doctors.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector directed the doctors to provide the best treatment to the children. She said that four of the six injured would be discharged by evening while the rest two would be kept under observation for 24 hours. Kranthi said that the condition of all the students was stable. She ordered an inquiry to identify the culprits who carried out the poor quality work.
Interestingly, renovation works of the building were taken up just a couple of years ago with an outlay of Rs 1.50 lakh mandal parishad funds. The incident exposed the poor quality of the work done by the contractor. Only 15 of the 25 students attended the school on the fateful day.
