Four killed after tractor-trolley overturns on Sultanpur Highway in Lucknow

Four people were killed after a tractor-trolley overturned on Sultanpur Highway in Lucknow early Saturday. Police said the victims, including a tractor driver and three brick-kiln labourers, were trapped beneath the vehicle. Their bodies were sent for post-mortem examination

Lucknow: Four people were killed when the tractor-trolley they were travelling in overturned on the Sultanpur Highway here early Saturday, police said. According to a police statement, the accident occurred around 4.45 am in the Gangaganj area, following which the Gosaiganj police, fire service and NHAI teams rushed to the spot.

Four people were trapped underneath the tractor-trolley, the statement said. An NHAI crane was used to remove the vehicle and rescue the trapped people, who were taken to the Community Health Centre Gosaiganj in an ambulance. Three of them were declared dead on arrival, while the fourth was referred to the Trauma Centre but succumbed to his injuries on the way, police said.


Police said one of the deceased, Pitambar Rawat, a resident of Achkakamau village in Barabanki, worked as a tractor driver at a brick kiln owned by a man identified as Deshraj. The other three deceased were labourers engaged in loading and unloading bricks, police said.

The deceased were identified as Sandeep Rawat (25), Pitambar Rawat (35), Pawan Rawat (25) and Balram Rawat. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, police said, adding that the tractor-trolley was removed from the spot.
