Four women killed as coal tipper hits mini goods vehicle in Kothagudem
The deceased women belonging to SC Colony in Sujatha Nagar mandal were travelling in the goods vehicle to go to Chandrugonda to work in a chilli field there.
Kothagudem: Four agriculture labourers, all women, were killed and several others injured as a coal tipper hit a mini goods vehicle at Tippanapalli village in Chandrugonda mandal in the district on Friday.
The deceased women belonging to SC Colony in Sujatha Nagar mandal were travelling in the goods vehicle to go to Chandrugonda to work in a chilli field there. A speeding coal tipper hit the goods vehicle leading to the death of the women.
There were around 15 labourers travelling in the vehicle when the incident took place. The deceased women were identified as Kathi Swathi (26), Kathi Sayamma (45), Akkirala Sujatha (46) and Gurram Lakshmi. The injured were shifted to Kothagudem District Hospital for treatment. The accident led to tension at the village as the locals and relatives of the deceased women staged a dharna on the road demanding justice to the affected families. Kothagudem DSP, Venkateshwara Babu and several police officials rushed to the spot to bring the situation into control.
