Fresh inflows recorded in Osmansagar and Himayatsagar after heavy rains
Following heavy rainfall in upstream areas, fresh inflows were recorded in Osmansagar and Himayatsagar reservoirs near Hyderabad. Authorities are monitoring the situation as water levels steadily increase.
Hyderabad: Fresh inflows began arriving in the twin reservoirs of Osmansagar and Himayatsagar from the early hours of Saturday, following heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of the Gandipet reservoir in villages including Chevella, Vikarabad, Shankarpally, Mominpally, and Dobi Peta on Friday. These inflows enter the reservoirs through the Musi River.
Similarly, inflows into Himayatsagar arrived from upstream areas including Chevella, Andapur, Kotwal Peta, Narkuda, Tandur, and Moinabad, due to heavy rains on Friday night. These inflows reach the Himayatsagar reservoir via the Esi River.
Officials of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of nearby communities.
Water Board officials also cautioned residents in surrounding areas to stay informed about any updates or warnings issued by the government. Emergency services are on standby to respond to any potential incidents.
Meanwhile, the HMWSSB released the latest water level statement to the media.
