Hyderabad: Citizens continued to face hardship as many fuel stations were closed through the night in several parts of the city and reopened in the morning.
On Thursday, fuel stations at Bahadurpura, Shahalibanda, Etebar Chowk, Puranapul, Chaderghat and few other places in the south of the city remained closed in the morning and opened after 9 am only.
“Although there was stock, the fuel stations were closed. It was only after 8.30 am, the management opened the fuel stations and started dispensing petrol,” said Shafiq Ahmed, a private school teacher.
Long queues were witnessed outside the fuel stations from early hours with people parking their vehicles and waiting for the fuel stations to open. “We did not understand the logic of suspending the services in the night, when there is adequate fuel stored in the tank. It is because of security reasons or absence of staff at the fuel stations,” questioned Shiva Kumar, a resident of Lal Darwaza.
Meanwhile, auto drivers staged protests at different places in the city in view of shortage of the auto LPG gas. Late in the night, the auto rickshaw drivers had staged a road blockade at Bahadurpura road and during the early morning at Karmanghat Road. The auto drivers argue that they are waiting in the queue for 4 -5 hours but turned away at the last moment.
At a few auto LPG stations, the management put up boards informing that the station will close at 8 pm.
“We are running around the fuel stations throughout the day. Finally, when we manage to get the gas, they are dispensing only Rs. 500 fuel,” said Sufiyan Ahmed, an auto driver.
