Ganesh immersion continues at 39 centres across MMC and CMC bodies

Ganesh idol immersion continued at multiple centres across the MMC and Cyberabad Municipal Corporation limits, with civic authorities providing extensive facilities and monitoring arrangements. Officials reviewed sanitation, safety and crowd-management measures to ensure smooth conduct of the immersion process.

Hyderabad: Ganesh idol immersion continued from the morning at 39 centres across three zones in the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) civic body limits, covering major water bodies and artificial facilities in parks, playgrounds and market yards.

MMC arranged 10 centres in the Uppal zone, 20 in Malkajgiri and nine in LB Nagar and 18 lakes, seven ponds or baby ponds, and 15 artificial lakes or portable tanks. Major sites include Saroor Nagar, Safilguda, Shamirpet and Edulabad.

On Friday, MMC Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy reviewed immersion facilities, amenities for devotees, staff deployment, sanitation measures and the overall conduct of the process. He directed officials to maintain constant supervision and ensure the availability of drinking water, lighting, mobile toilets, medical services, cranes, security arrangements and signboards at all centres.

He directed the sanitation wing to ensure the prompt collection and segregation of flowers, biodegradable materials and other waste generated after immersion and keep immersion sites and surrounding areas clean, with particular attention to protecting lakes and the environment.

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation facilitated immersions at 53 designated points across its limits. IDL Lake, also known as Rangadhamuni Cheruvu, in Kukatpally drew huge crowds. The civic body and police deployed large cranes at the lake to ensure the immersion process ran smoothly.
