Hyderabad: Telangana Bhavan witnessed an unusual interaction on Sunday when four young women aspiring to build careers in public policy and politics met BRS working president KT Rama Rao to understand governance and political processes firsthand. They expressed their desire to actively engage with political and policy issues and eventually emerge as political leaders.
The group comprised Sarayu, who will pursue Politics, Economics and Philosophy at King’s College London; Laasya, a student set to join NALSAR University of Law; Revathi, who will study at Symbiosis Law School; and Ashni, a B.Com student at St. Francis College, Hyderabad.
Unlike the routine stream of party leaders, workers and petitioners visiting the BRS headquarters, the four students approached Rama Rao with the objective of gaining exposure to politics and public leadership. They described the interaction as inspiring and said it had strengthened their resolve to pursue public leadership in future.
They informed that they had been working together since their school days on policy discussions and social issues to contribute to societal change. They also expressed interest in gaining practical exposure to political functioning at the grassroots level. They wanted to work with Rama Rao and the BRS team at Telangana Bhavan to better understand the political landscape of Hyderabad and Telangana.
The BRS working president welcomed the initiative and assured them of guidance and support during their learning process. He said he was pleasantly surprised by the confidence and clarity displayed by the young women. He stated that their interest in public affairs and willingness to engage with governance issues reflected a positive trend among Gen Z youth.
He assured them that opportunities would be provided to interact with his team and understand various aspects of governance and public policy. He said encouraging young people, particularly women, to participate in politics was essential for strengthening democratic institutions.
