Hyderabad: As part of a special Diwali drive to check the quality and hygiene standards in the preparation and sale of sweets, GHMC’s Food Safety Wing officials conducted surprise inspections at 43 sweet shops across the city.
During the inspections, Food Safety Officers (FSOs) found several violations, including lack of pest control operations, untested water used for food preparation, broken flooring in tiffin sections, absence of workers’ medical records, fly infestation in display areas, and dirty ovens.
The food business operators were instructed to maintain proper hygiene standards in food preparation and to ensure that kitchen premises are kept clean. Surprise inspections of sweet shops will continue across the city, according to a GHMC press release.
