GHMC doubles zonal circles to 12 after ULB merger
The GHMC has announced a major restructuring following the merger of 27 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). The civic body has increased zonal circles from six to twelve, covering 300 wards. Each zonal circle will consist of five circles, making a total of 60 circles.
Hyderabad: In a major development in the merger of 27 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner RV Karnan on Thursday issued a notification increasing zonal circles from 6 to 12 and proposed locations for circle offices across 300 wards.
According to the list, the GHMC notified 12 zonal circles, including Malkajgiri, Uppal, L B Nagar, Shamshabad, Rajendranagar, Charminar, Golconda, Khairatabad, Secunderabad, Serilingampally, Kukatpally, and Quthbullapur. Each zonal circle will have 5 circles. This means all 12 zonal circles will have a total of 60 circles, and each circle will have 5 GHMC wards.
The existing zonal circles include Secunderabad, Charminar, Kukatpally, Khairatabad, LB Nagar, and Serilingampally. After 27 ULBs were merged, the GHMC created 6 additional zonal circles, which comprise Malkajgiri, Uppal, LB Nagar, Shamshabad, Rajendranagar, and Golconda, according to the GHMC Commissioner, RV Karnan.
