Hyderabad: With just five days left for filing objections and suggestions on the notification for expanding the GHMC jurisdiction through the merger of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), the maps showing boundaries of the newly fixed 300 wards are yet to be made available.
The absence of ward maps is causing inconvenience to residents and organisations intending to participate in the process. Without clear boundaries, they are unable to accurately identify the areas they want to include in their feedback.
After 27 ULBs were merged, the number of GHMC wards increased from 150 to 300. Though the boundaries of each ward have been finalised, the civic authorities have not displayed them in the form of geographic maps, even though the list of all 300 wards has been published.
GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan on Thursday assured a BJP delegation led by Marri Shashidhar Reddy that all the maps of the 300 wards would be uploaded to the GHMC portal and displayed accordingly. Shashidhar Reddy said the merger process would not be meaningful without the maps and emphasised that they must be accessible to petitioners.
