GHMC Standing Committee proposes renaming Uppal-Narapally elevated corridor
The GHMC Standing Committee decided to forward a proposal to rename the Uppal-Narapally elevated corridor after former Uppal MLA Bandari Raji Reddy. The meeting also reviewed 23,287 completed works since 2012, including drainage and junction improvements across the city

Hyderabad: GHMC Standing Committee on Monday decided to forward a proposal to the State government to rename the Uppal-Narapally elevated corridor as ‘Sri Bandari Raji Reddy Corridor’.
Bandari Raji Reddy was former Congress MLA from Uppal and died in May 2025.
The GHMC Standing Committee meeting was the last Standing Committee meeting as the five-year tenure of the present council will be concluded on February 10.
The Standing Committee also considered certain infra works for administrative sanction and permission to call for tenders.
Meanwhile, the progress sheet of the works taken up from 2012 to 2026 was released at the Standing Committee meeting.
Since February 2021, GHMC completed 23,287 works at a cost of Rs 5,117.25 crore, according to an official release.
In the current financial year 2025–26, 10,488 works worth Rs 2,787.55 crore were taken up, of which 5,056 works, costing Rs 1,092.56 crore, were already completed, the release said.
In the storm water drainage sector, 1,636 works were completed since 2021 at a cost of Rs 816.21 crore to mitigate inundation issues across vulnerable localities.
Regarding junction works, 82 junctions were identified citywide and of these, 56 junction works were completed so far at a cost of Rs 38.15 crore, focusing on pedestrian safety, improved traffic circulation and urban aesthetics, said the release.
