GHMC to launch special sanitation drive across Hyderabad from December 29

The GHMC will begin a special sanitation drive from December 29 under the supervision of 12 Zonal Commissioners and 60 Deputy Commissioners. Commissioner RV Karnan, while reviewing sanitation works in Secunderabad, directed officials to resolve long-pending issues and focus on garbage hotspots.

Hyderabad: The GHMC will launch a special sanitation drive under the supervision of all 12 Zonal Commissioners and 60 Deputy Commissioners from Monday, December 29.

On Saturday, GHMC commissioner RV Karnan, while reviewing sanitation works in Secunderabad zone along with Zonal Commissioners Ravi Kiran and Sanchit Gangwar, directed authorities to ensure all long-pending issues related to sanitation are addressed.

Speaking on the occasion, Karnan instructed officials to ensure effective monitoring of sanitation works. “Special attention will be required to long-accumulated waste and garbage vulnerable points during the special drive,” he said.

During the inspection in the Secunderabad zone, the Commissioner inspected sanitation and pedestrian facilities in and around Gandhi Hospital and its surroundings. He took the stray dogs issue seriously and said that these stray dogs relocated to rehabilitation centres were returning to the hospital premises.

The Commissioner also reviewed pedestrian facilities and instructed officials to immediately restore footpaths by removing accumulated garbage.

In the Malkajgiri zone, the Commissioner inspected garbage vulnerable points in Old Alwal and instructed officials to ensure regular garbage removal and maintain clean roads and streets.
