Hyderabad: The Godavari River is on the rise once again following heavy rainfall in upstream catchment areas. All the major projects in the basin area are receiving heavy inflows. The flood monitoring stations at different places are reporting “above-normal flows.”

The surge has been attributed to downpours in the river’s upper reaches, resulting in high discharges from key barrages. Officials from the Central Water Commission and state irrigation departments are closely monitoring the situation.

Precautionary measures have been initiated as per the flood manual guidelines in the low-lying areas. At critical gauging points such as Kaleshwaram, Perur, and Bhadrachalam, river levels are showing a steady rise.

At the Sriram Sagar Project, the inflows stand at 3.05 lakh cusecs, with outflows controlled at 2.15 lakh cusecs. The Sripada Yellampalli Reservoir is receiving inflows of 6.14 lakh cusecs. The outflows have been maintained at 6.35 lakh cusecs. At Medigadda barrage (confluence of Pranahita and Godavari rivers), both inflows and outflows stand steady at 7.40 lakh cusecs.
