Hyderabad: Kaleshwaram project is now aiding in ensuring sufficient supply of water to Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, Yadadri. River Godavari water will be used for performing different rituals at Yadadri, besides meeting the devotees’ requirement.
To this effect, every day 10 lakh litres of water would be supplied to Yadadri as sought by the temple management. The water would be released into Gandi Cheruvu downhill the temple from Mallanna Sagar reservoir, which is part of Kaleshwaram project, Yadagirigutta Temple Development Authority (YTDA) Vice Chairman and CEO G Kishan Rao said.
On Monday, the water was formally released into Gandi Cheruvu from Jangampally canal by Government whip Gongidi Sunitha.
The water will be released into Gandi Cheruvu from Mallanna Sagar reservoir in Siddipet through gravity. The water will be diverted from the main canal leading to the Basawapur project in Turkapally and then eventually into Gandi Cheruvu.
YTDA has constructed Lakshmi Pushkarini (holy water tank) near Gandi Cherruvu for the convenience of devotees, who wish to take bath. The tank is developed in an area spread over 2.40 acres spending about Rs.11.5 crore.
Nearly 2,500 devotees can take bath in the tank at one go. The tank has been built to store about 15 lakh litres. YTDA also constructed a Kalyana Katta close to the water tank where devotees can get their heads tonsured.
After tonsuring and taking bath in the Pushkarini, devotees can board the free shuttle services to reach atop the hill, Kishan Rao explained. The water in the Pushkarini atop the hill would be used only for temple requirements for performing different rituals, he added.
