Karimnagar: IT and Municipal Administration Minister, K T Rama Rao on Monday said it was a golden era for Telangana State in implementation of welfare schemes.

“In erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, farmers used to face a lot of difficulties in getting fertilizers and seed under successive governments. However, the situation has changed and happiness is writ large on the faces of farmers after TRS came to power in the State under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekahar Rao,” Rama Rao said, after inaugurating Rythu Vedhikas in Konaraopet and Mudapalli.

Stating that a number of schemes had been implemented for the welfare of farmers as well as other sections of society, he said not other Chief Minister had introduced so many schemes and programmes for the welfare of farmers and development of agriculture sector in the State. “For the first time ever in the country, Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima were introduced in the state. These two schemes were implemented to protect the agriculture sector and the farmers’ interests,” he said.

Pointing out that the Union government was replicating Rythu Bandhu, the Minister said it was a good initiative and hoped more and more States implement the scheme for the welfare of the farming community.

“Telangana is the only State providing 24 hours uninterrupted power supply to the agriculture sector. All water bodies including reservoirs, tanks, ponds and others were filled with plenty of water. This was possible only because of the construction of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme and other projects,” he said.

He also observed that ground water tale in Rajanna-Sircilla district had risen to six metres, the highest in the country, following the completion of Mid Manair and other projects. The Minister appreciated District Collector D Krishna Bhaskar for his efforts.

Stating that the Chief Minister was aware of the problems faced by the people, he said Chandrashekhar Rao was developing villages and towns by bringing in new acts. Greenery has gone up in rural areas with Palle Prakruthi vanas being developed in all 12,750 gram panchayats in the State, he said.

The concept of increasing farmers’ income started from Konaropet and it would be implemented across the State if it was found to be successful, he said, and described Sircilla and Vemulawada Assembly constituencies as two eyes for him. He promised to develop Vemulawada on par with Sircilla.

Malkapeta reservoir was constructed in Konaraopet mandal only after formation of Telangana State, the Minister said, and instructed the officials to encourage youth to set up dairy and food processing units.
