Nizamabad: People from Goondla and Bestha community took out a rally on Saturday to protest against the reported move to provide membership to the Mudiraj community people in fishermen societies.

The rally was taken out from Rajeev gandhi auditorium to collectorate and submitted a memorandum to the Nizamabad collector C. Narayana Reddy. They also burnt an effigy of the Fisheries minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav.

The Nizamabad Nagar Gangaputra Sangham president Palli Konda Annaiah argued that every caste had its own vocation. While the fishermen catch fish in tanks, rivers and have membership in fishermen societies, the Mudiraj community people sell fruits, tamarind other goods. However, the Fisheries minister Srinivas Yadav had promised Mudiraj community people to get membership in fishermen societies.

The association’s associate president Madavedi Vinod Kumar demanded that the Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao drop minister Srinivas Yadav from the State cabinet. He urged the Chief Minister to provide right on tanks and societies to the traditional Goondla and Bestha community people only and repeal GO No-6 and implement GO No-74. Association general secretary Maku Ravi, Dr. Ramchander, Fishermen federation former chairman Saibaba, federation members Battu Narender and others were present.
