Grave cases go up by 32 per cent in Sangareddy in 2024

Sangareddy: The number of grave cases reported in the district increased by 32 per cent this year compared to 2023. The cases increased to 283 in 2024 from 215 in 2023 while the district recorded 183 cases in 2022. Meanwhile, the total number of cases reported had recorded a 5 per cent increase as the number of cases went up to 7,563 compared to 7,236 in 2023.

Sangareddy SP Chennuri Rupesh released the annual crime report of the district during a press conference on Friday. The district recorded 55 murders, 10 murders for gain, 88 kidnaps, and 131 rapes. The number of rapes increased by 31 per cent from last year’s 100 cases. However, the number of road accident deaths came down 365 compared to 411 in 2023.


The ganja and other drug cases increased to 34 from last year’s 11. The police nabbed 79 peddlers and manufacturers in 2024 compared to 33 during the corresponding period in 2023. The illegal transportation of PDS rice increased considerably as police seized 15,139 quintals of rice in 85 cases compared to 6,645 rice seized in 2023 in 66 cases.
