Farmers staging a unique protest at Gummadidala in Sangareddy district on Tuesday.
Sangareddy: Farmers’ protest in Gummadidala on Tuesday reminded people of a famous scene from popular Telugu movie ‘Bharat Bandh’, in which protestors enforce the bandh by painting ‘Bharat Bandh’ in Telugu on a cow. The 1991 movie starred Vinod Kumar, Archana and Rahman, and was directed by Kodi Ramakrishna.
To make their voices against the proposed Pyaranagar dumpyard heard, the farmers of Gummadidala replicated the scene during their protest on Tuesday.
They wrote “dumpyard vaddu maa kadupu kottodhu” on a buffalo. Making the protest more interesting, the farmers took out a rally with multiple buffaloes and cows.
Since Gummadidala is known for sending thousands of litres of milk and tonnes of vegetables to Hyderabad every day, the farmers planned the unique protest.
Meanwhile, they also launched relay hunger strike. The farmers said the dumpyard would force them to quit cultivation of vegetables and rearing of milch buffaloes and cows since it would pollute the environment and groundwater as well.
