Hyderabad: MLC Gutha Sukhender Reddy filed his nomination for the post of the Chairman of Telangana State Legislative Council here on Sunday. He submitted the nomination paper at around 10.40 am to the Secretary of the State Legislature. This would be his second term as the Chairman of the Council.
He was accompanied by Ministers Vemula Prashanth Reddy, G Jagadish Reddy, Mohd Mahmood Ali, Satyavathi Rathod, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Government Whips MS Prabhakar Rao, Gongidi Sunitha, Rythu Bandhu Samithi chairman Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, TRS MPs, MLCs and MLAs who extended their support and congratulated him.
Speaking on the occasion, Sukhender Reddy thanked Chief Minister and TRS President K Chandrashekhar Rao as well as Minister and the party working president KT Rama Rao for giving him an opportunity to serve as the Council Chairman for second term. He also thanked the Council members from all the political parties who supported his candidature for an unanimous election. He assured to run the House in a respectful and effective manner.
The notification for the election of the Council Chairman was issued on Saturday. The election of Sukhender Reddy is likely to be unanimous as only he had filed his nominations so far. After Sukhender Reddy’s term expired in June last year, V Bhoopal Reddy was appointed as the Protem Chairman. AIMIM MLC Syed Aminul Hasan Jafri took over as the new Protem Chairman after Bhoopal Reddy’s term expired in January this year.
