Warangal: Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) has submitted proposals to the State government for its approval for setting up five integrated vegetable and meat markets under GWMC limits with an outlay of Rs 18.50 crore.
Officials said the sites had already been identified at Jubilee market Kazipet in Warangal West constituency, Chintagattu canal under Wardhannapet constituency, near the grain market under Wardhannapet constituency, Nagamaiah temple in Warangal East constituency and Dharmaram village of Parkal constituency under the GWMC limits. This was announced at the GWMC council meeting held here on Thursday via teleconference due to Covid-19.
The council approved Rs 4.85 crore development works during the council meeting by approving eight agenda items placed before it. Speaking at the meeting, Parkal MLA Challa Dharma Reddy has asked the GWMC authorities to allot more 10 more sanitation workers to the villages that were merged with the GWMC under his constituency limits, and also asked the GWMC to set up Annapurna canteens to provide meals at Rs five for the benefit of the labourers of the mills at Gorrekunta and Dharmaram villages.
West MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar has thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for increasing the salaries/wages of the sanitation workers by 30 per cent. It is said that the GWMC had recruited 452 sanitation workers additionally. GWMC commissioner P Pravinya said that a fogging machine would be allotted to each division after completing the tendering process. The authorities have also said that they were taking steps to secure a better rank Swachh Survekshan 2022. EE (Water Supply) Rajaih said that they had called for a tender for arresting the leakages in the drinking water supply (AMRUT-Mission Bhagiratha) and the works would be completed in a week. He added that they would supply water through the tankers if the corporators asked for the same.
