Warangal Urban: The draft notification issued by the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) is in imperfect shape since the division of wards was done in an unscientific manner, BJP Warangal Urban district president Rao Padma alleged on Tuesday.
She has also demanded that the GWMC authorities conduct a meeting with all parties and people’s associations to seek their opinion on the delimitation of wards before releasing the final notification. Padma along with former MLA K Sridhar and other leaders met the district collector and GWMC special officer Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu here and submitted a memorandum urging him to extend the deadline to receive objections.
The GWMC issued the preliminary notification on the division of the corporation into 66 wards from the existing 58. “The residents of Warangal City are requested to file their views and suggestions if any, to the Commissioner, Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation in Head Office within seven days of the date of issue of the draft notification i.e. on or before March 23, 2021, before 5.00 PM,” she said.
Expressing her ire over GWMC officials stating that they were not available to receive the objections on the last date i.e March 23, she said: “We have many objections over the issuance of the preliminary notification on the delimitation of the wards.”
