International Happiness Day was celebrated at Delhi Public School, Mahindra Hills on March 20. The theme of the day was “Share happiness”. The special assembly started with the lighting of the lamp followed by a wonderful PowerPoint presentation on happiness. Children showcased how different forms of art can be the source of happiness. School conducted a volley of activities that aimed at harnessing individual talent and creativity so that every child feels motivated, confident and happy.
Students from class pre-nursery to class II were engaged in making smiley puppets and happy mask, students from classes III,IV and V prepared “hashtag happiness card”, while those from class VI made “my happy moment collage”, whereas students from higher classes participated in “train your brain” activity (used different colours which reflected positive thoughts) and storytelling (using positive words).
Principal Dr Sunitha Rao motivated the students by saying that happiness is more than a good feeling or a yellow smiley face. It’s the feeling of truly enjoying your life and the desire to make the very best of it. Happiness is the “secret ingredient” that can help us be and do our best. The day culminated with a vibrant live performance by students of class VIII on the theme of happiness.
